BAKER, LA (WAFB) - A man who was only facing a week in prison has been loaded down with new charges after trying to escape custody Wednesday morning.
Jcolby A. Johnson, 24, was in Baker City Court, where a judge sentenced him to serve seven days in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
While being led from the courtroom, Johnson got away from the officers and ran toward a glass door, where his momentum carried him through it.
The crash through the glass caused extensive injuries to his left arm.
The injuries didn't stop Johnson, however.
He kept running towards the intersection of Groom and Epperson Street.
Police caught up with him at the intersection and he was arrested.
Johnson was taken to the hospital for treatment for his injuries and then booked into the parish prison.
He was charged with simple criminal damage to property, resisting an officer and simple escape.
