HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - Two men from the New Orleans area were arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop early Sunday morning.
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office said Kameron Sears, 19, of Destrehan and Damien Landry, 20, of Metairie were both charged with possession of marijuana.
According to authorities, a silver Lexus was pulled over in Hammond around 1 a.m. and the deputy reported smelling marijuana while standing near the car.
Investigators said the deputy asked Sears, the driver, if there were any illegal drugs or weapons in the car and Sears denied there were any.
The driver reportedly gave permission to search the car.
Deputies said during the search Landry stated there was a bag of marijuana in the glove compartment.
The TPSO said the deputy found the bag of marijuana in the glove box and six other bags in the car.
Officials did not say exactly how much marijuana they confiscated.
In addition to the possession charge, Sears was also booked on driving without a license and a traffic offense.
