Jeffery Lee Guillory sentencing postponed
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Accused serial killer Jeffery Lee Guillory was scheduled to be formally sentenced to life in prison Thursday for the 2002 murder of Renee Newman, but the hearing was postponed.
Guillory's sentencing will happen on another date because one of the attorneys involved in the case had a personal emergency.
Guillory is already serving a 50-year sentence for the attempted murder of Johnnie Martinez.
He has also been accused in the deaths of two other women in the Baton Rouge area.
Investigators said fingerprints have connected Guillory to the killing of Sylvia Cobb and DNA has linked him to the murder of Florida Edwards.
Shortly after Guillory was convicted for Newman's murder, her brother said the family feels at peace.
