BOGALUSA, LA (WAFB) - The people of south Louisiana no longer have to worry about a giant deadly predator they probably didn't even know was lurking in the area.

It took two people 30 minutes to fight an alligator that measured 11' 6" with an estimated weight of 1,000 lbs. Monday.

Alan Wade of Bogalusa, a guide, and Melissa Bachmann, a television personality from up north, hauled in the huge catch in Washington Parish.

It was as big as the boat, so in order to get it back to land they had to latch it to the side of the boat.

Once reaching the bank, they then had to use a loader to pick it up and physically put it into the truck.

Experts estimate the gator to be about 20 years old.
