BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police collected a DNA sample from LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson when they searched his apartment late Wednesday afternoon.
Sgt. Don Stone with the Baton Rouge Police Department said investigators gathered enough probable cause to execute a search for certain items that will "help prove or disprove the allegations against him (Jefferson)."
Police left the apartment near LSU with several paper bags filled with items they seized from it. Police would not say what items were seized.
According to a police source, one of the main items investigators were looking for was a pair of Jefferson's tennis shoes.
The source said investigators want to see if the bottom of the shoes match an imprint on the shirt of one of the four people injured in the fight. The source did not say whether the shoes were located during the search.
Jefferson was at home at the time of the search. The search warrant was signed by District Court Judge Chip Moore.
Jefferson is one of four LSU football players police are investigating in connection with a fight at Shady's bar near the LSU campus last week.
The fight sent four young men, who are not members of the team, to a hospital for treatment. Police reported one of the victims has three fractured vertebrae.
The four implicated players were interviewed by police for several hours Tuesday.
No arrests have been made in the case.
