GRAMERCY, LA (WAFB) - A man suspected in several homicides in south Louisiana jumped off a bridge as he fled authorities Tuesday afternoon.
The Louisiana State Police said Kylan Laurent, 22, of Vacherie leapt from the Veterans' Memorial Bridge in Gramercy into the Mississippi River.
Troopers reported they tried to pull Laurent over around 1 p.m. on LA 18.
He led them on a chase, stopped on top of the bridge, got out of his car and dove into the water.
Authorities are still combing the area for Laurent.
According to reports, Laurent is a suspect in one homicide in Kenner and two in Jefferson Parish.
LSP said Laurent was originally a suspect in an aggravated battery/false imprisonment case in Baton Rouge.
Detectives said he's a suspect in several other cases as well.
