Man accused of threatening another with a cane knife
AMELIA, LA (WAFB) - A 55-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly threatening another man with a cane knife Friday afternoon.
According to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office, Ashley Gaudet of Amelia was arrested on aggravated assault and illegal use of a weapon charges.
Deputies said they received a call from a man who told them he and his dad were working on a boat motor while a neighbor was firing a BB gun at birds in a tree.
The caller reported when he told the neighbor to stop shooting in their direction the man got upset.
The neighbor with the BB gun then allegedly grabbed a cane knife and started threatening the man working on the boat who told him to stop shooting.
Investigators said the deputy who went to check out the situation saw a cane knife and BB gun next to the suspect.
Gaudet was booked into the St. Mary Parish Prison on a $3,000 bond.
He was later released.
