NEW IBERIA, LA (WAFB) - Mr. Al, the nearly 150 year old oak tree on U.S. 90 in New Iberia, was moved to its new home on Tuesday. The 400 ton oak tree was moved about a mile and a half down the road to LA 83.
DOTD was originally going to cut the oak tree down to make way for a service road, but a lot of the neighbors petitioned and got the state to save the tree.
The move cost the state $300,000.
