While we still have a long way to go, every single parish in Louisiana had more people working and fewer people unemployed in February. Louisiana continues to be somewhat of a bright spot in a bleak national jobs picture, but we understand we are not completely insulated from economic struggles.

Even with our total number of jobs being somewhat stable, the shifting of careers between business categories can result in tense times for our workforce. These are times when people invest in additional education and broaden their resumes with new on-the-job training. It is our hope that when we get to the end of this economic downturn, we will have a stronger and better educated Louisiana workforce, a workforce that will entice more companies to invest here.

To assist in bringing companies and jobseekers together, WAFB will host the WAFB Jobline Job Fair on Wednesday, April 14 at the Baton Rouge River Center. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Louisiana and national companies will be on hand to meet with those looking for a new career. Representatives from several schools will also be there to offer insight to those looking to further or change careers. If you are interested in new career opportunities or if you are a business looking to hire qualified jobseekers, click here to find out more about our job fair. Hope to see you there.
