BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Post-Secondary Education Review Commission said they will go forward with their recommendations to have just one board watch over higher education.
The commission recommended Thursday to get rid of the Board of Regents which is the governing body for the majority of the state's higher education facilities. That news was a shock.
Sen. Ben Nevers, the Commission Chairman, said they are not satisfied with past performance and they want change.
Sally Clausen, the Commissioner of Higher Education, was asked if she felt her job was in jeopardy.
"When you're under a microscope it's always uncomfortable," said Clausen. "And we have been uncomfortable. But require us to focus on them. Not boards, not presidents, not our jobs. But on the students."
The commission's recommendations still must be approved by the Legislature and a statewide vote.
