NEW ROADS, LA (WAFB) - The autopsy report on an 18-month-old boy who died Friday showed he suffered a damaged skull, broken back and broken abdomen.
Aaron Bowman Sr., 28, is accused of beating his son, Aaron Bowman Jr., to death. New Roads police said Bowman confessed to killing his son during questioning. They said Bowman hit the child after he would not stop crying.
"I've worked on stabbings and shootings with adults and it's unfortunate but I was hoping I'd never have to deal with this," said Sgt. Shael Stringer with the New Roads Police Department.
Bowman is being held in the Pointe Coupee Parish jail. He's charged with first-degree murder.
Assistant District Attorney Tony Clayton says he will push for the death penalty in the case.
There has been no word on when it will go before a grand jury.
