Liam Combs

Liam Combs joined the WAFB news team in September of 2024. He is from Phoenix, Arizona, and graduated from Northern Arizona University in May 2024 with a degree in Political Science and Journalism.

As WAFB’s Capitol Correspondent, Liam covers Louisiana politics and the issues that shape people’s day-to-day lives – from redistricting fights at the Capitol to criminal justice reform, education, insurance, and public health. In July 2025, WAFB sent him to Central Texas to cover the United Cajun Navy’s recovery effort following devastating floods that claimed hundreds of lives.

From dancing on Bourbon St. during Mardi Gras to anchoring the Sunday evening newscasts, Liam’s passion lies with the people, finding stories that highlight the real impact of public policy.

Liam has a traveler’s spirit, spending his final semester of college in Madrid, Spain. He hopes journalism will allow him to continue to tell stories from around the world and bring new perspectives to the American political space.
