BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A woman is dead and a man is injured after a shooting Sunday morning on Highland Road, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Officers responded around 8:42 a.m. on July 27 to the 5100 block of Highland Road, near Lee Drive, where they found two people with gunshot wounds.

The woman, identified by police as Kimberly Martin, 29, was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest and later died from her injuries. Authorities say Martin was pregnant and the unborn child did not survive.

A male victim was also shot in the leg and is expected to survive, officials said.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and no witnesses or suspects have been identified at this time.
