BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A house was burned to the ground off North Foster Drive on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 3.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department said the fire started at a house at the corner of Wilmot Street and Conrad Drive, in a residential area just off North Foster Drive, around 4:11 p.m. Saturday.

Crews were on the scene by 4:15 p.m. and found the house engulfed in flames, with the roof starting to collapse.

Firefighters had to work around live power lines and heavy rain to contain the blaze. They were able to keep the fire contained and protect neighboring homes from damage.

Photos from the scene show thick smoke lingering in the air and dramatically reducing visibility in the area.
