LSP: Out-of-state driver killed in fiery crash that shut down I-10 East for several hours
WHISKEY BAY, La. (WAFB) - Troopers with Louisiana State Police said one person was killed in a fiery two-vehicle crash that shut I-10 East on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge for several hours late Thursday, May 11, into Friday, May 12.
They added Khamphout Senesanouk, 48, of Texas, died in the wreck that happened around 11:30 p.m.
Tpr. Christian Reed with LSP Troop A said the investigation so far shows Senesanouk was driving a Toyota Camry on I-10 East when the car stopped in the right lane. He noted troopers are still investigating what made the car stop.
He added an 18-wheeler rear-ended the car and Senesanouk was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Reed, the driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured.
As with all deadly crashes on Louisiana highways, blood samples were collected from both drivers and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
