Parents of suspected shooter arrested; victim identified

The parents of the suspected shooter who killed a man in Plaquemine early Friday morning, April 7, have been arrested, investigators said.

PLAQUEMINE, La. (WAFB) - The parents of the suspected shooter who killed a man in Plaquemine early Friday morning, April 7, have been arrested, investigators said.

According to the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office, a body was found shot to death in a yard along Kember Road.

Officials identified the victim as Kendrick Carter, 24, of Plaquemine.

Mario Harmason, the suspected shooter’s father, and Alicia Harmason, the suspected shooter’s step-mother, were charged with obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact of second-degree murder, according to officials.

The shooter is still at large but faces a second-degree murder charge.

Deputies said the victim was walking up the driveway of the home of the suspected shooter when he was shot. They added the victim was shot three times by a large caliber weapon.

Officials said they are holding off on releasing the suspected shooter’s name because the U.S. Marshall’s Office is investigating.

The scene is just south of Plaquemine Senior High School.

According to deputies, Carter was in a vehicle with the suspected shooter Thursday, and Carter forgot a weapon in the vehicle. Investigators added Carter had another friend drive him to get his gun and Carter was shot while walking up the driveway to the home.

The investigation is ongoing.
