Manageable rain amounts today; waiting on wonderful weekend weather
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Rains today will stay light to moderate in intensity and scattered in coverage. Everyone will make it through Thursday with no severe weather or flooding impacts.
Rain amounts will average less than 0.5″ for most with a localized pocket of 0.5-1″. Rain action will decrease as we move through the evening hours. By sunrise Friday, clouds will be clearing and the bright orb in the sky will finally reappear.
The weather will stay chilly Friday into Saturday morning. The kids will want a jacket for Friday morning’s bus stop as some dip into the upper 30°s. A brief, light freeze remains possible Saturday morning for areas along and north of I-10. Make sure to check on people, pets, and plants Friday night. The rest of the weekend will see a rapid warming trend. Temperatures will remain cool Saturday but mild by Sunday.
The beginning of the next work/school week will stay dry. Long-range models continue to disagree on the timing of our next storm system. For now, we’ve got sct’d to numerous showers and t-storms in the forecast for Wednesday & Thursday with a dry out into the following weekend. This is a low-confidence forecast at this time.
