BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A stalled front will meander around the local area over the next couple of days. North of the front will be cooler temperatures (40°s-50°s), while south of the front will be warmer temperatures (60°s-70°s). The front will slowly work south before reaching the coast by Wednesday evening. The front won’t do anything to the fog. We expect cloudy, hazy, damp, drizzly conditions to remain through Wednesday. A few passing light showers will also be possible, but rain amounts will be negligible.

Our next storm system and cold front quickly arrives Thursday. The system will dump about 1″ of rain for most with localized pockets of 2-3″ possible. Rain amounts could lead to localized nuisance type flooding (roads, ditches, bayous, streams). Local rivers are currently tracking well above base level. We’ll keep an eye on area rivers as we end the week as they will see a climb. The potential will be for minor flooding along portions of the Comite, Amite, Tickfaw, Natalbany, and Tangipahoa Rivers. A Marginal Risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather is in place for areas along and south of the I-10/12 corridor Thursday afternoon and evening. Damaging wind is the main concern.

Drier weather will remain to end the week and for next weekend. Temperatures will trend cooler briefly through Saturday morning. We are back above normal by Sunday. Long range models suggest we could see a storm system for the middle of next week. Tons of timing uncertainty related to this system. We’ll fine tune the forecast as we get into the weekend.
