No. 6 LSU easily handles UAB in home finale

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - No. 6 LSU (9-2) had no trouble against UAB (5-6) in the final home game of the 2022 season, as seniors on the Tiger squad were honored before kickoff.
The Tigers beat the Blazers, 41-10, holding them scoreless in the second half.
Jayden Daniels was 22-of-29 passing for 297 yards and a touchdown. He didn’t throw any interceptions. His main target was Malik Nabers, who finished with seven catches for 127 yards. Daniels also ran the ball 12 times for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Noah Cain had 13 carries for 76 yards and three touchdowns. John Emery Jr. had nine carries for 46 yards and a touchdown but he also fumbled twice.
The LSU offense finished with a total of 565 yards, while the defense held UAB to 259 total yards.
The Tigers reached the end zone on four of its five possessions in the first half. Emery got things started with a 2-yard run that capped off a 9-play, 79-yard drive to put LSU up 7-0 in the first quarter.
UAB responded with its own scoring drive thanks to a 66-yard kickoff return by Jermaine Brown Jr. that gave the Blazers the ball on the LSU 30-yard line. Three plays later, DeWayne McBride found paydirt on a 5-yard run to tie it at 7-7.
Cain put LSU back on top with his first touchdown of the game. It came on a 5-yard run that capped off an 8-play, 75-yard drive that took only 3:20. The Tigers went up 14-7 at that point and led the rest of the game.
Matt Quinn kicked a 29-yard field goal at the start of the second quarter to make it 14-10 but UAB would not score any more points for the rest of the game.
Cain scored two more touchdowns in the half, each from 1-yard out, to give LSU a 28-10 halftime lead.
Daniels then rushed for a 2-yard touchdown in the third quarter and connected with Walker High great Brian Thomas Jr. in the fourth quarter from 5 yards out to give the Tigers the 41-10 lead.
LSU next travels to College Station, Texas to take on Texas A&M on Saturday, Nov. 26. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN.
