PLAQUEMINE, La. (WAFB) - Stop No. 26 for Sportsline Summer Camp was with St. John of Plaquemine and second-year head coach Coby Minton.

The Eagles are coming off a 4-7 season and just 1-3 in their Class 1A district but the guys are optimistic after adding eight to their numbers for a roster of 35, including seven seniors.

One is quarterback Maddox Bennett, who’s been stressing off-season conditioning for a team that’s going to have to rely on several guys going both ways in an offense that expects to make big strides in the passing game, which means more sprinting on Friday nights.

Three of their losses last year were by a touchdown or less, so a turnaround to a winning season figures to be in reach but the goal is making the Division IV playoffs they missed again last year.
