EBRSO arrests man who was shot after disagreement escalates outside Baton Rouge grocery store
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Deputies have arrested the man who was shot after engaging in an argument that escalated Sunday evening in the parking lot of Albertsons on George O’Neal Road.
Jonathan Young, 22, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.

According to East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported shooting at 15226 George O’Neal Road on Sunday, May 22.
An EBRSO spokesperson said there was some kind of disagreement at the store, and the man accused of the shooting is claiming self-defense.
Deputies detained the man accused of the shooting at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

The man accused of shooting Young, who has not been identified, reportedly told detectives that Young had verbally threatened to shoot him, retrieved a gun, and returned to his car.
The surveillance footage shows Young arguing with a man seated in a white four-door sedan. Young appears to open the driver’s door of a dark blue sedan, and then continue the argument with the man. Young, appearing to hold an object in his hand, approaches the vehicle, and the man in the white sedan shoots toward him.
The shooter and his wife called 911 and waited for deputies to arrive while Young fled the scene and was later dropped off with non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.

Young was reportedly placing groceries inside of the blue sedan when the argument began between the two men, according to arrest documents.
Arrest documents also state that two children under the age of 10 were sitting inside the white sedan.
Deputies arrested Young after he was discharged from the hospital.
