BATON ROUGE, La. (THE LOUISIANA WEEKEND) - Get ready to go green for St. Patrick’s Day. After a two-year hiatus, the parade is back this year. The 35th Annual Wearing of the Green Parade will take place at 10:00am on March 19, 2022. The parade starts on Hundred Oaks Avenue and ends at the intersection of Perkins Road and Stanford Avenue.

Todd Graves, founder of Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is the 2020, 2021, and 2022 Grand Marshal. He is bringing celebrity guests with him. The rumor is that some of the celebrity guests include LSU alum and basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal, R & B artist Nelly, and rapper Flo Rida. Be on the lookout for Todd Grave’s floats to see which celebrity guests will appear.

Get ready to grove with some big bands. The Southern University Marching Band “The Human Jukebox” will march in the parade. This band has made countless notable appearances including three US Presidential Inaugurations, seven Super Bowls, four Sugar Bowls, 2020 Rose Bowl Parade, Radio City Music Hall, and more.

The Texas Southern University Ocean of Soul Marching Band will also march in the parade. This band is a crowd favorite at TSU’s football games across the nation. They also perform for the NBA’s Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavaricks, and the World-Famous Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. For some local flavor, Dr. Juvon Pollard, Sr. Associate Director of Bands is the former Band Director for Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge.

There will be more than eighty floats (yes 80!) in the parade. Some of which include:

#63 Our Mom’s Restaurant & Bar (Nicholson Drive)

#76 Hillar Moore, District Attorney

#80 Uncle Earls Bar & Schlittz & Giggles

The Cooking in Central Chefs will sell jambalaya along the parade route at Moreau Physical Therapy and Catholic Life Center.

Also at the parade, expect to see the Budweiser Clydesdales and the Big Idaho Potato truck.

As you can see this will be a big parade. Get giddy and go green in celebration!
