BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Eighth-grade science rarely involves learning to sew but some students at Southeast Middle School received a special lesson that combined math, history, and the art of quilting.

This Black History Month project, organized by the Baton Rouge Links, connected the students with Master Quilter Cecelia Pedescleaux.
She travels the world giving quilting lessons and teaching the history behind their intricate patterns.
For this project, the students learned about the pinwheel pattern and why it was used.
