BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish School System held a news conference in conjunction with Our Lady of the Lake on Tuesday, Aug. 3 to provide updates on COVID-19 protocols and procedures for the upcoming school year.

According to East Baton Rouge Superintendent Dr. Sito Narcisse, he anticipates a full return on August 11 and says new guidelines were created by the Medical Advisory committee to protect students, teachers, and parents.

“Much of the guidance from the 2020-2021 school year will remain in place, with the addition of some heightened prevention methods,” said Narcisse.

All students in K-12th grade will be required to wear a mask in the school setting, and all children and staff will be required to wear masks when traveling on school busses.

Additionally, Dr. Narcisse says East Baton Rouge Parish Schools will begin to offer free, periodic COVID-19 testing to staff and students, with parental consent.
