Home run from Pleasants lifts LSU as they take series over Ole Miss

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Taylor Pleasants home run in the bottom of the sixth inning lifts No. 15 LSU past Ole Miss 3-2 as they takes the series.

The Tigers (21-11, 6-5 SEC) got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning as Raeleen Gutierrez sac-fly to center field scored Savannah Stewart to take a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third inning the Tigers added another run as Danieca Coffey scored on a RBI single from Pleasants to make it 2-0.

Ole Miss (21-13, 5-6) answered in the top of the fourth inning as a RBI single from Paige Smith made 2-1 and then they would tie things with a RBI single to center from Autumn Gillespie.

The Tigers would retake the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning as Pleasants launched her sixth home run of the year to left center to make it 3-2.

Ali Kilponen (7-3) got the win in the circle, she came in to relieve starting pitcher Shelby Wickersham in the fourth inning. Klponen struck out five batters and allowed three hits.

The Tigers will go for the sweep over Ole Miss on Saturday, April 3 with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
