BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Local hospitals said they’re excited and expecting a surge of new people in the coming weeks.
A doctor with Baton Rouge General said they’re increasing capacity at Bluebonnent Center for Health and the Mid-City location.
They’re able to do 2,500 vaccines a week at each of the locations combined.
“When we have sufficient supply to do so. If you go online to schedule, if you call our call center, then we do all that we can to make sure that as many appointment slots that we have available that corresponds with our location of vaccine are available to each member of the community that we are able to serve at that current time,” said Dr. Raneesha Ford Director of Pharmacy Services at Baton Rouge General.
She said there’s sufficient vaccine available in the Baton Rouge area and are planning events in the outer areas: Port Allen, Ascension Parish and Livingston Parish.
Our Lady of the Lake said they have team members ready, plenty of vaccines and availability, so sign up if you haven’t.
They have multiple locations open right now including the Pennington on Perkins Road and the Ascension Clinic on East Highway 30.
They also have the north clinic on North Airline Hwy. They are giving out the Pfizer vaccine.
“We’ve been preparing for this,” said Laura Davis OLOL Senior Director of Operations. “We’ve got some really good processes in place. There many be the occasional five-minute wait time as more people come through. But I think we’re ready to face the challenge.”
