WALKER, La. (WAFB) - Walker High four-star wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. signed his national letter of intent with LSU during a ceremony in the school’s gym on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound pass catcher is a consensus top 100 prospect. He ranked as the No. 88 prospect in the nation, No. 13 wide receiver in the US, and No. 4 player in Louisiana by the 247Sports Composite.
“I knew what they had coming in with the new offensive scheme, it was what they had in 2019 when they won the championship,” said Thomas. “I feel like it would fit me well and I feel like I could go in there and compete, maybe get in there my freshman year if I go in there and compete and I feel like that was the best place for me to be. They’ve just been telling me how I can come in and help them out tremendously. Just give me the ball in open space, just trying to tell me how I can come in and help them out.”
He chose the Tigers over Texas A&M and Alabama. LSU now holds the No. 3 class, according to 247Sports. The Tigers jumped Georgia and sit behind Alabama and Ohio State.
Thomas is the fifth wide receiver for LSU’s class of 2021.
