BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus issued a statement on Thursday, Jan. 21 remembering longtime former WAFB news anchor Donna Britt.
Donna passed away after a long battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS).
“Britt’s career in delivering relevant and noteworthy news has spanned over 36 years touching the lives of many individuals throughout Louisiana,” the group wrote.
“Donna Britt, consistently demonstrated unparalleled intel, unwavering tenacity, and genuine human compassion,” the statement said.
“She was committed to the efforts of the African American community and supported the issues that resonated with minority groups. In particular, she took a special interest in Leland College and the impact that it had on its graduates and Black educators. As a journalist, she was most notable for her fair and equitable news coverage and reporting,” said LLBC Vice Chairwoman Barbara W. Carpenter.
“As we reflect on the life, commitment, and many notable contributions of Donna Britt, the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus encourages everyone to keep her family in your thoughts and prayers,” the statement said.
