GONZALES, La. (WAFB) - A spokesperson with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office says two Gonzales men were arrested on aggravated battery charges.

On Tuesday, January 5, shortly before midnight, deputies responded to a residence on Mire Road for a disturbance.

Deputies say a shooting occurred and deputies were flagged down by 38-year-old Jessie Jacob who said that he called his ex-girlfriend and told her he would be coming to retrieve some of his personal belongings from the residence.

When Jacob arrived at the residence, the ex-girlfriend was awaiting his arrival, along with a neighbor, identified as 48-year-old Conrad Rousseau, and some other acquaintances, one being a male juvenile who was armed with a rifle. Jacob used his vehicle to strike two of the acquaintances at which time Rousseau began firing several shots in the direction of Jacob’s vehicle as he was backing out of the driveway. Jacob, of Gonzales, was arrested and charged with two counts aggravated battery. Conrad Rousseau, of Gonzales, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal use of weapons, and aggravated criminal damage to property.

Both men were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on January 6.
