ARLINGTON, Texas (WAFB) - Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith, a native of Amite, La., was named the Offensive MVP of the 2021 Rose Bowl in the Crimson Tide’s 31-14 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Smith had seven catches for 130 yards and three touchdowns in the College Football Playoff Semifinal. He scored on plays of 26 yards, 34 yards, and seven yards.

His three receiving scores tied a Rose Bowl record. He shares the honor with USC’s Deontay Burnett (2017) and Michigan’s Braylon Edwards (2005). It also tied an Alabama bowl record for receiving touchdowns.

Those three receiving touchdowns give him 20 for the season, which ties the SEC record set last season by LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
