BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - LSU legend Skip Bertman is being released from the hospital on Monday, Dec. 7, and heading home, Senior Associate Communications Director Bill Franques confirmed.

Bertman checked into the emergency ward Tuesday, Dec. 1 around 11 p.m. It was later learned he was fighting the rhinovirus. Bertman told WAFB’s Jacques Doucet he did not have COVID-19 or pneumonia.

Franques said as of Saturday, Bertman was feeling much better and was expected to be released from the hospital soon.

Bertman, 82, coached the LSU baseball team from 1984 to 2001. He then served as LSU’s athletic director from 2001 to 2008 before retiring.
