BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Baton Rouge Police Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 22-year-old woman, whose body was found in a Tigerland apartment Friday morning.

According to officials, Pauliqua Evans, 22, was found inside her apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4 at the Tiger Plaza apartments on Alvin Dark Avenue.

The motive and possible suspect(s) are unknown at this time.

Now, her family is crying out for their community to help and for the authorities to find any information on the person who took away a precious piece of their lives they can never get back.

“Whoever done this to my child, please come forward and give me peace,” said Quwanda Decuir, Evan’s mother.

Evans also leaves behind more than just her memory. Evans was raising two young boys. Her sister says they were her pride and joy. She says the two boys have been asking for their mom nonstop since she was taken.

“That’s what hurts me the most because she’s not going to be here to raise them and you know, we are going to do our best, but there’s no love like your mom’s love,” said Eireyan Evans.

The family has created a GoFundMe to help pay for funeral expenses.

Anyone with information relative to this shooting is urged to contact the Violent Crime Unit at 225-389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
