Woman jumps from second-story window to escape shooting that reportedly killed her boyfriend

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - One man is dead and his girlfriend is in the hospital following a shooting Thursday morning.
The shooting happened around 5 a.m. on Aug. 20 in the 600 block of Sharp Lane at the Chateau DeVille Condominiums, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.
One man was killed in the shooting. He has now been identified by police as Charles Henry Slan, 30. Slan died at the scene.
Police say a woman was injured after she jumped from a second story window to escape.
Neighbors say they were woken up by the woman banging on a door with “an obvious broken leg” asking for someone to call 911. One neighbor says the woman claimed her boyfriend was the victim of the shooting.
Residents of the apartment complex say there is a history of thefts, break-ins, and shootings that have happened there.
The investigation is ongoing. The motive to this shooting is unknown at this time.
