One killed in Zachary stabbing; victim identified
ZACHARY, La. (WAFB) - Police are investigating a deadly stabbing that happened Wednesday morning in Zachary.
According to the Zachary Police Department, the stabbing occurred Aug. 19 around 9 a.m. on Avenue E.
Chief David McDavid says initially, a fight broke out between the suspect, now identified as Brandon Phillips, 36, and his grandfather. Phillips then allegedly stabbed another person inside the house.
That person has now been identified as Bridgette Seals, 39.

After making their way inside, Phillips ran out of the back door and officers say they found Seals on the ground. Phillips was apprehended a short time later a few blocks away, police say.
Phillips is charged with second-degree murder, resisting arrest, possession of schedule I narcotics, and possession of schedule II narcotics. Officials say when Phillips was arrested, they found a large amount of drugs, including synthetic marijuana, crack cocaine, and powdered cocaine.
Chief McDavid says there have been incidents in the past involving the victim and the suspect. According to court records, Phillips was charged with first-degree murder in 2005 and attempted second-degree murder in 2015.
