ACTION JACKSON: Drivers want another red light at LA 30 and Veterans Boulevard in Gonzales

Drivers in Gonzales say intersection near Tangler Outlets causing major issues

GONZALES, La. (WAFB) - Residents who frequently drive in the Gonzales area reached out to WAFB’s Donovan Jackson after seeing a previous report on a dangerous intersection on Siegen Lane in Baton Rouge.

Drivers tell WAFB LA 30 and Veterans Boulevard intersection is a traffic nightmare.

"Sometimes you'll get stuck there for five or ten minutes," said one driver.

“We'll just sit there waiting and then whenever you pull out to the road, someone else is turning,” said another driver.

Drivers in the area believe a traffic light at the intersection will help resolve traffic issues.

Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has been notified of the driver’s concerns.

So, what can you do about your traffic concerns?

First, determine if the road where you’re requesting the light is managed by the city or state. If it is a city road, file a claim with the Mayor’s office. File a claim with DOTD if it is a state road.

Finally, engineers will have to conduct a traffic study at the intersection to determine if a traffic light, or other options, are beneficial
