Arrest made after Sunshine Bridge standoff

1 in custody after police standoff on Sunshine Bridge

DONALDSONVILLE, La. (WAFB) - The Sunshine Bridge has reopened after law enforcement activity on the bridge forced it to be shutdown for several hours.

Officials with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office closed the bridge to have negotiation is with a suspected armed robbery suspect shortly after 5:30 p.m.

The suspect was identified as 25-year-old Darrin Miller, from DeRidder.

He will be transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and will later be booked on charges of armed robbery and attempted first-degree murder.

The Sunshine Bridge is now back open.
