BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The weather in the winter months in south Louisiana can be hard to predict, however, it seems the two or three weeks of Christmas party season are almost always very cold. Here’s an elegant and warming cider to serve on those chilly nights. With the cider being red, and garnished with fresh green rosemary sprigs, it’s the perfect color for your next big holiday celebration.
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Yields: 15 to 20 servings
3 cups apple cider
4½ cups cranberry juice
1½ cups orange juice
2 tbsps packed dark brown sugar
1 tsp chopped fresh rosemary
3 tbsps grenadine
3 cinnamon sticks
¾ tsp whole cloves
1 orange, thinly sliced
½ cup fresh cranberries
3 sprigs fresh rosemary, rinsed
In a large pot over medium-high heat, combine apple cider, cranberry juice, orange juice, brown sugar, chopped rosemary, grenadine, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and orange slices.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 15–20 minutes.
Remove from heat and add fresh cranberries and rosemary sprigs.
Serve in a decorative punch bowl immediately or keep heated by serving in a crockpot set on low heat.
