1 injured during Kansas Street shooting

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - One person was injured in a shooting early Monday morning.

Officials say the shooting happened around 8 a.m. in the 1900 block of Kansas Street on Dec. 2.

Police say two men were arguing over a cell phone. Witnesses say they heard the two begin to wrestle before hearing two shots go off.

The victim was transported with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, sources say. Doctors say he was shot once in the abdomen and once in the arm.

Police arrested Joshua Simpson for his suspected role in the shooting. Simpson was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of attempted second-degree murder.
