Due to the increased volume of traffic in Baton Rouge over the holiday, the Baton Rouge Police Department has planned to have additional officers on the interstates to assist with travel. In 2018, BRPD put ten officers on the interstates for rapid response in clearing the road of wrecks, stalled vehicles, and debris. During the planned shift, BRPD assisted with more than 120 incidents. The department says its effort cut down on response times and prevented other on-duty officers from having to handle calls on the interstate.

On Sunday, Dec. 1, BRPD will place ten officers, including two motorcycle officers, on the interstates from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to assist with post-holiday traffic.
