Man booked on arson charged following ‘suspicious’ Flannery house fire

Man arrested on arson charges for September fire

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - An abandoned house in Baton Rouge went up in flames early on the morning of Monday, Sept. 23.

According to the Central Fire Department, firefighters responded to the 5400 block of Flannery Road just after 2 a.m.

The home was reduced to rubble and ash. Officials originally deemed the fire “suspicious," and as a result, Baton Rouge Fire Department investigators were called in to assist. Investigators later determined the cause of the fire to be arson.

On Tuesday, Nov. 5, investigators arrested Charles Fendley in Lafayette.

Fendley was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of simple arson.

There were no injuries.
