Balloon release held for Baton Rouge boxer killed in shooting outside nightclub

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Wednesday night, a large crowd of friends and family said goodbye to a Baton Rouge boxer killed in a shooting in early September.

The balloon release was held for Justin Thomas, and took place at Glen Oaks Senior High School Wednesday, Sept. 11. Someone gunned down the 35-year-old while he was walking to his car after leaving a nightclub on North Street. His family says since then, they’ve gotten nothing but support.

“We’re just so thankful for all the prayers, all the contributions, big and small, all the texts, all the visits, and we just love the love sent, same love my brother showed everyone else,” said Juana Thomas, Justin’s sister.

Police have not said anything about a suspect in the case. If you know anything, call Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
