Hundreds gathered Friday in the 1500 block of Treme for the 4 p.m. celebration of the iconic New Orleans musician. The second line was supposed to get going around 6 p.m.
It started at 4:30 p.m.
Mac “Dr. John” Rebennack, the mystic rhythm and blues piano player who dazzled crowds around the world, died Thursday of a heart attack. He was 77.
