GONZALES, La. (WAFB) - A longtime Ascension Parish business specializing in rain gear will be closing its doors at the end of this month, eliminating 30 full-time jobs.
Neese Industries, located on Airline Highway just outside of the city limits of Gonzales, first opened 66 years ago.
“They sure have been a good neighbor to us,” Gonzales Mayor Barney Arceneaux said Monday. “As long as I can remember, they’ve been in operations here and I certainly hate to see them go and hate to hear about the job losses.”
The location in Gonzales handles shipping and receiving, customer service, purchasing and planning.
The actual rain gear products are manufactured in Mexico.
Neese has been purchased by Radians, a company based in Memphis.
A spokesman for Radians said they will absorb the Louisiana workload at their facilities in Tennessee and North Carolina.
