Coast Guard: Search underway for 2 people possibly missing in Lake Pontchartrain
A search is underway for two people who are possibly missing in Lake Pontchartrain Wednesday night (May 15), according to the United States Coast Guard.

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WVUE) - UPDATE: The Coast Guard suspended the search for the night shortly before 9 p.m. Crews will determine Thursday morning whether or not to keep looking.

Original Story: A search is underway for two people who are possibly missing in Lake Pontchartrain Wednesday night (May 15), according to the United States Coast Guard.

The search began after a towing vessel reported a 10-foot camouflage boat was overturned in the lake, roughly one mile east of the Causeway bridge, the Coast Guard said. The person who reported this said he saw the same boat the day before around the same location, but with two people aboard it.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s office is assisting in the search, in addition to a Coast Guard boat and helicopter.
