NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Pelicans win the NBA Draft Lottery, despite only a 6% chance of securing the top overall pick. The FOX 8 Sports team examines whether Zion Williamson is the definite choice or if Ja Morant enters into the conversation. Also, how does this affect Anthony Davis’ trade status.
Juan Kincaid on the impact of potentially drafting Zion Williamson with the #1 overall pick:
“In Zion, you have Anthony Davis of seven years ago, a once-in-a-generation talent that can come in here and change the franchise from the start and for years and years to come. It hasn’t worked out with Anthony Davis here right now but things could all change with Zion coming into the building.”
Chris Hagan on what Williamson could bring to New Orleans:
“I think he is a leader, I think he is a guy that can become an alpha, just the way that he plays on the floor, the way that he lifted that team. You saw Duke with him, you saw Duke without him, just his presence out there was able to inspire that team. That’s a little bit of something New Orleans has been missing. That would be very exciting to see. If he comes to New Orleans, I think the city will embrace him and he can immediately be a superstar and for a guy like that, you have to look forward to that and the franchise should look forward to that too."
