House committee approves bill to put up ‘Home of the Who Dat Nation’ signs on I-10

House committee is step away from putting up ‘Home of the Who Dat Nation’ signs along I-10

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A bill to place the phrase “Home of the Who Dat Nation Highway” on signs along I-10 is a step away from becoming law.

The House’s transportation committee approved the measure Monday, May 13. It would cost about $1,100 per sign, but the bill’s author says some fans have offered to cover the cost. If the bill passes, those signs could be up just in time for football season in August.

“When you enter Louisiana from the Texas state line and when you enter Louisiana from the Mississippi state line, and when you get down to the Superdome to go to the game, I want everybody to know that this is, in fact, Who Dat Nation," said Sen. Wesley Bishop, D-New Orleans.

That bill now heads to the House floor for final approval. The signs could only be placed at the welcome centers on the state lines on I-10 and at the Superdome exit in New Orleans.
