Shooting, robbery suspect attempted to run officer off road during multi-parish pursuit

Man identified after allegedly being involved in shooting, robbery, multi-parish police chase

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Police are searching for a man who led officers on a multi-parish pursuit Monday, May 13.

According to a spokesperson for the Baton Rouge Police Department, officials in St. Gabriel were in pursuit of a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox. The man driving the car was involved in a shooting and a robbery. A spokesperson for the St. Gabriel Police Department says nobody was injured in either incident.

BRPD and EBRSO were assisting in the chase. A spokesperson for BRPD says the subject tried to run an officer off of the road and bailed on Rush Avenue off of Gardere Lane, near Nicholson Highway at around 3 a.m.

Police describe the person as a black man wearing an orange sweatshirt and blue jeans. The St. Gabriel Police Department has identified the man as Monrico Jones.

Arrest records show Jones has been arrested before for allegedly robbing people around the LSU lakes in 2011.
