STONE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol closed part of Hwy 49 Sunday morning in both directions at Red Creek south of Wiggins in Stone County. The closure comes due to flooding.
By 6:15 p.m., both directions were reopened to traffic.
The highway was temporarily closed near MGCCC and was reopened once it becomes safer to travel.
Officials are asking everyone to “turn around, don’t drown”. If roads are flooded or warning signs have been posted by the Harrison County Road Department, then don’t ignore those signs.
