NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB) - A rally late in the game by Southern did not result in enough runs to overtake UNO Tuesday night in New Orleans.

The Jags fell 5-4 to the Privateers.

Jerome Bohannon III started on the mound for Southern. He gave up five runs on seven hits in five innings. He struck out three batters. Bohannon suffered the loss in the game.

The Jaguars got on the board first. In the second inning, Johnny Johnson reached home on a single by William Nelson for the 1-0 lead.

UNO had a huge third inning, putting up four runs. A solo home run in the bottom of the fifth extended the lead to 5-1.

Southern rallied in the top of the seventh. Zavier Moore scored on a single by Brendon Davis. Later, a double by Javeyan Williams sent Davis and Tyler LaPorte home to make it 5-4.

The Jags will return to the diamond Wednesday to face Alcorn State in Natchez, MS.
