BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU softball senior Michaela Schlattman was named to the 2019 SEC Community Service Team.

The senior catcher for the Tigers has been a complete steward and true servant of the Baton Rouge community during her two years as an LSU Tiger. Schlattman has led the team in their efforts to promote ovarian cancer awareness through head coach Beth Torina’s foundation Geaux Teal.

The LSU senior has organized efforts for the team to volunteer at the Knock Knock Children’s Museum, where children learned valuable life skills through various activities. She has also been a a constant advocate for supporting the local Miracle League and often will serve as a coach for the team. Schlattman has also spent time volunteering at retirement home for bingo night and school fall festivals.

The Tigers head to the SEC Tournament this week in College Station, Texas, and will face either Florida or South Carolina on Thursday at 11 a.m. Tiger fans will be able to watch the game on the SEC Network.
